Families Matter 2011 Awards Breakfast On Saturday, November 19, 2011, Family Services held its 11th Annual Awards Breakfast at the Mandalay Banquet Center to honor local students from grades K - 12 who entered our "Healthy Families" poster and essay contest. Hundreds of students from around the Miami Valley sent in posters and essays that responded to the theme for 2011 - "Healthy Families: LOVE is the Main Ingredient".
Joyce Willis, Family Services Board Member and event chair, hosted the event with the wonderfully talented Marsha Bonhart from WDTN Channel 2 News. Mike Hemmelgarn, local ventriloquist and juggler, provided entertainment for more than 130 students, family members and guests. Students received a number of wonderful gifts/awards, including savings account certificates from Wright-Pat Credit Union, school supplies, baseball tickets and book bags donated by MeadWestvaco. Our major event sponsors included: NewPage; DP&L; First Financial Bank; FifthThird Bank, Dayton Children's Hospital, AMS and the University of Dayton.
