Parenting classes are offered regularly during the course of the year.
The parenting classes held at Family Service Association are suitable for parents with children of any age. In fact, you don't need to be a parent right now to benefit from the information presented. It will help you to be more prepared to be loving, effective parent. Parenting 101 This class is titled "Basic Parenting," and will help parents build a healthy relationship with their children. The topics covered are: needs of children and qualities of effective parents; self-esteem; detecting and preventing child abuse; child growth and development; identifying and managing feelings; setting rules and limits, and loving and effective discipline.
Parenting 202 This class is titled "Building a Healthy Family," and will help parents build a healthy relationship with themselves so that they are more effective leaders of their family. The topics covered are: healthy relationships; effective discipline (two sessions); handling change and loss; coping effectively with stress; learning to be okay with anger, and tools for healthy parenting.
Upcoming Classes
Parenting Class, 101
Meeting every Tuesday for eight weeks, from January 10, 2012 through February 28, 2012, from 5:00 pm - 6:30pm. The course is interactive for participants and teaches skills that can help parents, guardians or caretakers build stronger relationships with children and reduce negative behaviors.
Private Session Parenting Class, 101 or 202
Private session parenting classes are also available with the parenting instructor. Space is limited and certain conditions apply. These classes must be scheduled directly with parenting class instructors.
